Sunday, Dec. 10

7:18 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 19000 block of U.S. Highway 491, Lewis. A woman claimed that a man had grabbed her by the hair and thrown her to the ground after she asked about another woman who was in his truck with him. The woman’s story was unclear on some details and reportedly conflicted with that of her daughter, who claimed to have witnessed the incident. Deputies were unable to immediately contact the suspect and did not pursue a warrant against him.

Monday, Dec. 11

9:44 a.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

1:27 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

9:11 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant outside Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after a deputy approached him for setting up a tent on private property.

Tuesday, Dec. 12

9:18 a.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of check fraud at Cortez Animal Hospital, 110 S. Sixth St., Dolores. A hospital employee claimed the woman had paid with a check that had bounced, and had refused all requests to cover the cost with cash.

11:45 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 100 block of U.S. Highway 160. They took witness statements from the two male occupants of one vehicle and one female occupant of the other vehicle. Colorado State Patrol troopers took over the investigation.

2:30 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants at the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St.

3:14 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an animal bite on County Road P.8. A woman claimed a dog she didn’t recognize had bit her leg while she was walking on the road. The case remains under investigation.

3:55 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of Brookside Drive on a warrant for failure to appear after a vehicle in which he was a passenger was pulled over for speeding.

11:32 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a possible suicide attempt in the county. A man was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment after family members said he had taken more than seven sleeping pills.

Wednesday, Dec. 13

2:23 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of assault in the 8000 block of County Road 41. A man claimed his landlord had punched him in the face several times. The landlord denied the accusation, and claimed he had only told the man to be quiet and turn off a hot plate on which he was cooking at 9 p.m. The man’s girlfriend, who was in the room during the incident, reportedly said she had not seen the assault and could not give specifics. The man who reported the crime reportedly had a small bump on his forehead, but no injuries consistent with the severe assault he described. Another witness reportedly backed up the landlord’s story. Deputies dropped the case due to lack of evidence.

1:28 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of fraud in the 25000 block of County Road T. A man reported that someone had contacted him claiming to be an IRS agent, and had told him he needed to send $300 in the form of a Walmart gift card to an address in Washington, D.C., or he would be arrested. The man reportedly told deputies he didn’t realize it was a scam until he had already given the gift card number to the caller. Responding deputies advised him not to take any more calls from the number or send any more money.

2:49 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Thursday, Dec. 14

12:26 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

4:09 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a protection order violation in the 16000 block of U.S. Highway 491. A man said his wife had received a protection order against a woman who used to live in their residence, but the man claimed he had seen the woman sitting in a vehicle outside the house when her husband came to pick up her mail from the mailbox. Deputies forwarded a report of the incident to the district attorney’s office, but did not immediately pursue charges.

7:02 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a possible traffic accident outside Dolores High School, 1301 Central Ave., Dolores. A juvenile reportedly backed into a car being driven by another juvenile, causing damage to the car’s hood. A responding deputy gave a verbal warning to the juvenile who reportedly caused the accident.

Friday, Dec. 15

1:21 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 18000 block of Colorado Highway 145 on suspicion of being intoxicated in a roadway.

11:27 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant.

Saturday, Dec. 16

9:31 p.m.: A dog at a residence in the 35000 block of County Road P.4 in Mancos reportedly bit a juvenile girl, severing her ear. She was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then transported to St. Mary’s Medical Hospital to see a specialist who might reattach her ear. No charges were filed.

Sunday, Dec. 17

2:27 a.m.: A woman was arrested at residence in southeast Montezuma County on suspicion of child abuse after her three children stated that she had pushed and threatened them after she had been drinking. The deputy reported that the home was in disarray, with food, furniture, broken lamps, broken glass, and bottles of alcohol scattered throughout the living room, entertainment room and bedroom.

3:25 p.m.: A man was arrested on two warrants and possession of a controlled drug at a residence in the 13000 block of Colorado Highway 145.

Monday, Dec. 18

3:40 p.m.: During a traffic stop in the 5000 block of County Road 24, a man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

7:19 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

8:48 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

Tuesday, Dec. 19

8:22 a.m.: While investigating a theft report in the 28000 block of County Road K.2, a deputy arrested a neighbor on a warrant.

11:19 a.m.: A man was served with two warrants at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:59 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI in the 14000 block of U.S. Highway 491.

Thursday, Dec. 216:09 a.m.: A man was cited for third-degree assault after allegedly spitting on a deputy at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:23 p.m.: A woman was served a warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
