Mancos Days Queen Tea



Members of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 5231 invite the public to join them on Friday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at the Bauer House in Mancos to meet and visit with the 2012 Mancos Days Queen, Wanda Goode. Annual Mancos Days Book Sale



The Mancos Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Mancos Days Book Sale at the library, 211 W. First St., on Friday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a “Friends Only Ice Cream Social” with early bird shopping for all members of the Mancos Friends of the Library on Thursday, July 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. Memberships will be available at the door. Join in the fun and catch up with “Friends” over ice cream sundaes at the biggest book sale of the year! There will be a fantastic selection of gently used books of every category along with books and music on tape and CD. All proceeds go to support the Mancos Library and its programs. Mancos Days Pancake Breakfast



Boy Scout Troop 518 would like to invite you to their annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, July 28 before the Mancos Days Parade. The scouts of Troop 518 invite the community to come and enjoy pancakes and sausage from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Mancos School Cafeteria, 355 Grand Ave. The cost for the breakfast is $5 for an adult — all you can eat. A family of two adults and two children under 10 may eat for $12, so bring the whole family! Tickets for the breakfast are available at the door that morning. Get a jump start on the day’s festivities by enjoying pancakes and sausage prepared by the scouts and families of Troop 518, followed by the Mancos Days Parade. Four Corners Community Band at Mancos Days

Hurwitz plays ‘cowboy prairie blues’ for Nat’l Day of the Cowboy



Come celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy with Michael Hurwitz, who will perform his cowboy prairie blues on Saturday, July 28 at Western Belle’s House Concert Series at 32229 Road P in Mancos. Come at 7 p.m. for a potluck supper (bring your favorite dish to share), and music begins at 8 p.m. A lot of cowboy, a little blues, and a lot of talent you don’t want to miss. Tickets are $15. Lutheran Church holds annual church picnic

Trinity Lutheran Church will hold their annual church picnic on Sunday, July 29. The church service will be held at 10 a.m., with the picnic to follow at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join us for great food and fellowship. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 208 N. Annual Service in the Park, potluck luncheon



On Sunday morning, July 29 at 10 a.m., the Dolores United Methodist Church will hold it’s annual “Service in the Park” at the pavilion in Joe Rowell Park in Dolores. Immediately following will be a potluck. Chicken, drinks, plates and forks will be provided by the church. Please bring a chair and a side dish to share. Heirloom fruit expert To speak at Anasazi Heritage Center



Please join us for Jude Schuenemeyer’s presentation on the preservation of Montezuma Valley’s fruit-growing heritage at the Anasazi Heritage Center, 27501 Hwy. 184, Dolores, on Sunday, July 29, at 1 p.m. His appearance is part of the 2012 Four Corners Lecture Series. Admission to the museum is free on lecture days. Jude is co-founder of the Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project which aims to preserve our local fruit growing heritage and restore an orchard economy to our region.
