I recently heard Mr. Wasley on KSJD boasting about how many people he has been able to meet across fence lines and in their kitchens while campaigning.
I ask that voters take a moment to ponder just how DA Wasley has done this. The disturbing answer is that for six months, Wasley has been campaigning on the clock and on our county dime.
Recall our Republican Assembly in February a noteworthy event where the assembled delegates of the GOP decided that Wasley was not worthy of their vote. This left Wasley aggressively collecting signatures for his petition instead of working. During business hours, Wasley was not at the office or in the courtroom. Instead, he was at Wal-Mart, the Ag Expo and at our doorsteps, desperately trying to get on the ballot.
While I appreciate the time and effort a candidate must disburse to relay their message, I take offense to the fact that Wasley continues to campaign at taxpayers expense. Over the last several weeks, we have seen Mr. Wasley in our neighborhoods between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Some of us have seen him numerous times, banging on the same door, outwardly not able to recall that he had been there hours earlier.
Meanwhile, Wasley has failed to properly maintain his official responsibilities. On March 13, 2012, the DAs chronic tardiness forced the judge to dismiss six cases including a guilty DUI offender who had 9 prior offenses. Wasley has continued to violate his oath and the rules of law resulting in obscenely generous plea bargains for kidnappers and child-killers while being ordered to go back to school.
I take offense when I see the president fly Air Force One to campaign and I am equally offended when I see Wasley electioneering on the clock. During business hours, Wasley should be taking classes on the rules of law, administrating his office, or preparing for cases and not campaigning. If Wasley comes to your door, you might want to ask him why hes not doing the job were paying him good money to do.
