A group of Danish gymnasts performed at Cortez Middle School on Thursday, Oct. 19, to great acclaim.

The Danish Gymnastic International Group, led by Kim Hahn, represents the Academy of Physical Education in Viborg, Denmark.

Using mainly a trampoline and mats, the team focuses on interpretive gymnastics, according to Lani Graham, an organizer of the event and retired physical education teacher from northern Virginia, where she was an active folk dancer.

“Kim Hahn brought a group maybe six years ago, and they performed in Durango Schools,” Graham said. “The reception is wonderful because they do a stylish, artistic form of gymnastics.”

The Danish gymnasts who performed in Cortez then headed to the Grand Canyon.
