A caring community provides safe schools

I write regarding the May 24 article about keeping two teaching positions open at M-CHS for FFA. I heartily agree. What could be better than to both train and prepare local kids for careers in the ag field? Also, what could be better than to fix leaks in the 50-year-old high school building? In addition what could be better than to provide our students with both textbooks and technology that were created in this century?

Would a safe campus, one that could be monitored for unauthorized individuals entering this learning center, be out of the question as well? We owe it to all of our children to give them the best tools in the safest environment to prepare for their futures.

Continually sealing gym floors in order that toxins do not leach into susceptible bodies is not what a caring community does. A caring community approves bond issues to take advantage of matching state funds. A caring community adequately funds educating all of our children not just in times of crisis but now and for these children’s children. When you are soon asked to approve funds for your schools, vote “yes.” If we don’t do it now, who will and when?
