Higher education is very often overlooked in our area, if not taken for granted. Southwest Colorado Community College (SCCC) offers affordable options for school-to-work and university preparation. And it is only seen miles outside of town!

The college was established 40 years ago to meet vocational/technical needs for this community. The college fills this need and does so much more.

Right now SCCC is going through what every other education institution is going through — hard economic choices and change. Matt Keefaufer said, “As a community, we all need to realize the importance of a strong, viable school district. The health of the district is a direct reflection on the health of the community!” Incorporating the community college and its myriad resources into this endeavor is increasingly important.

Talk to your commissioners and state representatives about the importance of SCCC. Let them know we deserve better.
