Tuesday, Oct. 3

10:26 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a La Plata County misdemeanor charge at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:21 p.m.: A woman turned herself in at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., and was arrested on three warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

11:33 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, on suspicion of driving under restraint and failing to provide proof of insurance.

Wednesday, Oct. 4

10:43 a.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of disturbing the peace at Compliance Staffing, 220 W. Main St., after an employee claimed he had flipped over her desk during an argument about his pay.

8:07 p.m.: A woman was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

Thursday, Oct. 5

1:04 a.m.: Two women were arrested in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street on suspicion of third-degree assault, domestic violence and child abuse. One of them was also arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order and bond conditions. Both women reportedly claimed they had been fighting in their apartment while their young children were present. Both women were medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to jail, due to severe intoxication and some cuts and bruises. One of the children was also medically cleared, although no injuries were reported.

3:30 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 2000 block of East Main Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after police responded to a report of suspicious persons in the area. A large bag of meth and a glass pipe were found in his possession, along with several large knives. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital after complaining of stomach pain.

4:55 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St., on suspicion of violating municipal bond conditions after he claimed he had been assaulted by his sister. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to apparent intoxication after he refused to take a breath test.

7:31 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Giant gas station, 2320 E. Main St., on a California warrant for failure to appear on an auto theft charge.

8:57 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons in the 700 block of Memorial Drive on suspicion of violating a protection order.

9:03 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of South Elm Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

Friday, Oct. 6

7:36 a.m.: Police responded to a report of found property at Slaven’s True Value Hardware, 237 W. Main St. A woman claimed she had found a knife in the parking lot with a beaded necklace wrapped around the handle. Police were unable to locate the owner.

11:02 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of South Broadway on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after he was pulled over for driving without headlights.

11:14 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 200 block of West Main Street on suspicion of DUI, driving with only one license plate displayed, an open container violation and child abuse. There were reportedly three children in the backseat of her vehicle when she was pulled over.
