Dear Editor,
On Saturday, May 5, Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County had a very successful yard sale. Thanks to the help of many businesses in our community as well as those who donated items and those who came to the sale and made purchases, we raised almost $5,000!

A successful fundraiser requires the efforts of many. A big thank you to Big R for the use of their parking lot. The location gave us lots of exposure and plenty of room to display our “treasures.” Don Whitehead of D&L Storage and Ed Merritt of Dolores State Bank loaned us trailers. AAA Storage, A to Z Storage, and Triple-Six Storage donated space to store, sort, and tag donations. Axis Health gave us the full contents of their old office on Arbecam, Mane Shipping provided balloons, and Seas’nings Catering supplied hand-crafted cookies. Thank you to all these folks. We are most appreciative of your generosity.

A special thanks to Lynn Anderson and Jerry Berg for the many hours they spent gathering donations, cataloguing, researching prices, cleaning and tagging items, and to those folks who set up, made sales, and packed up. And, a final thank you to Suzy Meyer and the Cortez Journal staff. The newspaper articles and community postings helped get the word out.

Keep those donations and volunteer offers coming throughout the year and help us reach our goal of providing safe and affordable housing to our neighbors throughout Montezuma County. Habitat staff can be reached at 565-8327, or you can visit our website at habitatmontezuma.org.

Sincerely,
Karen Sheek, Vice-President
