6:47 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 19000 block of County Road U.6 on suspicion of unlawful distribution, manufacturing or sale of drugs after detectives searched his house following a failed random drug test. Several containers of meth, marijuana, alcohol and psilocybin mushrooms, along with numerous syringes, knives and other drug paraphernalia, were found in the man’s house. The man’s girlfriend was also issued a summons on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after a purse, which the man claimed belonged to her, was found on the property with several packages of meth, marijuana and smoking pipes inside.
Wednesday, Sept. 20
8:50 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a missing iPad at Dolores High School, 1301 Central Ave. A coach claimed the device had gone missing after the football game on Sept. 8, where it was being used to play background music. The device was reportedly found at the school on Sept. 25.
11:46 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
4:25 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Thursday, Sept. 21
10:19 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant for third-degree assault and domestic violence at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.
11:31 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 27000 block of Colorado Highway 184 on a warrant for failure to appear.
12:44 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear.
1:13 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 7000 block of County Road 24.2 on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense charge after she was pulled over for speeding.
1:52 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the 16000 block of County Road 23. A woman claimed $1,900 in cash had been stolen from the residence while she and her family were out of town on Sept. 16. The case remains under investigation.
2:01 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of fraud in the 27000 block of Colorado Highway 184. A man claimed that someone impersonating his bondsman had called him numerous times to say his bond had been revoked and he needed to send a money order to a location in Nevada in order to stay out of jail. The man claimed he had sent a total of $10,329 to the person before he realized he was being scammed. The bondsman reportedly said he has pending investigations regarding similar incidents with his clients in other counties. The case remains under investigation.
Friday, Sept. 22
12 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a Rio Grande County warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge.
1:06 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 28000 block of County Road K.2 on a warrant for failure to comply and on suspicion of unlawfully possessing a Schedule II substance. A bag of meth was found in his pocket.
2:43 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Montezuma County probation office, 865 N. Park St., on a Delta County warrant for failure to appear.
6:21 p.m.: A man was arrested at Daniel’s Concrete, 12909 County Road 32, on suspicion of third-degree assault after his employer claimed he punched him in the face in a dispute over a paycheck.
Saturday, Sept. 23
1:15 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge after he was pulled over for failing to drive in a single lane.
11:54 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at G Whil Liquors, 24001 County Road G.2, on suspicion of DUI and driving with expired temporary registration.
Tuesday, Sept. 26
10:36 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 28000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after his wife claimed he hit her with a chair, punched her in the shoulder and spat in her face while he was upset about not being able to find his cigarettes.
3:37 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on two warrants for failure to appear.
3:38 p.m.: A man was served with three warrants for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
3:39 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants for failure to comply at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
4:12 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a deer that had been hit by a car in the 8000 block of County Road 25. The car’s driver said no damage had been done to the vehicle, but asked that the injured deer be euthanized. The responding deputy shot the deer with his sidearm.
5:21 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of displaying fictitious plates and driving without insurance.
7:17 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 21000 block of County Road G. A woman claimed her son’s smartphone, valued at about $554, had been stolen while he was riding the bus home from school. She said she had texted the phone number to let the thief know she would call law enforcement, and received a message that gave a name and said the person would return the phone the following day. Deputies contacted the one Cortez school district student whose name corresponded to the message, but the phone was not in his possession. The case remains under investigation.
Wednesday, Sept. 27
1:07 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of found property at Cortez Cash and Pawn, 24099 County Road G.2. A store manager claimed a woman had tried to pawn a pink rifle which was listed stolen out of Grimes County, Texas, after a burglary in 2012. The woman claimed her father had purchased the gun at a different pawnshop and given it to her. Deputies were unable to contact the woman’s father and made no arrests. The case remains under investigation.

2:14 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Friday, Sept. 29
1:12 p.m.: A man was remanded from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.
3:10 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to comply.
5:34 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of Spruce Street, Towaoc, on a warrant for failure to appear on a burglary case after he was apprehended by Bureau of Indian Affairs agents.
Saturday, Sept. 30
12:27 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 3000 block of County Road 21 on suspicion of DUI, driving under restraint and an open container violation after he was pulled over for weaving.
2:35 a.m.: Two women were arrested at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on suspicion of attempting to escape the jail and criminal mischief after they reportedly caused $275 of damage to a cell window with a pair of toenail clippers. A fellow inmate claimed they had asked her to deliver dark blue uniforms to their shared cell so that they would be less visible when they tried to escape at night. One of the women reportedly claimed she needed to escape because the Mexican mafia was after her and she didn’t feel safe in the jail.

9:51 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 11000 block of County Road 23 on a warrant for failure to appear.
