The Montezuma-Cortez All-District Band Festival is Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m., at Montezuma-Cortez High School. The concert will have performances from all bands from Cortez Middle School and M-CHS.
The concert is free to the public and everyone is encouraged to watch students perform.
The M-CHS Band Boosters are selling raffle tickets and a drawing will be held at Mondays concert. Prizes include the grand prize of a Specialized Mountain Bike, valued at $600 from Kokepelli Bike & Board, second prize is an XBox Gaming System valued at $325 from Game Stop, and third Prize is a $125 Fuel and Grocery Gift Card to City Market. Raffle tickets are one for $5, three for $10, or seven for $20. Contact Rodney Ritthaler at 565-3722 (ext. 158) or 560-7783 for tickets.
Money raised from the raffle helps the Marching Panthers, the Symphonic Winds, the Jazz Band, all the musical ensembles.
Donations are also being sought from local businesses and individuals for items to sell in the Silent Auction that will also be going on during the All-District Band Festival concert. Contact Band Boosters President Amy Smith at 565-3722, ext. 140 if you would like to donate an item or bid on an item. Items need to be donated by 4 p.m. Monday, May 7 and are tax-deductible.
The 2012 Senior Band students are also holding a car wash fundraiser for the Senior Legacy Fund, which is money the senior students donate to the band program. The car wash is Friday-Saturday, May 11-12 at RIMCO, on Main & Ash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All donations will be given to the band/music program as a parting gift from the Senior Band members at their Senior Concert (on May 22).
