Freeze warning issued for Monday night in Southwest Colorado

Fall temperatures arrived this week, and a freeze warning was issued for Sunday and Monday nights in Montezuma County.

The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for much of the Western Slope for Monday night, as temperatures drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Locations in Southwest Colorado include Cortez, Dove Creek, Mancos, Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, and Pagosa Springs, the weather service in Grand Junction said, as well as Steamboat Springs, Craig, Meeker Rifle, Mesa and Glenwood Springs.

The warning runs from 10 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday, with the lowest temperatures occurring just before sunrise.

The weather service forecasts mostly clear skies Tuesday in Montezuma County, with a high temperature near 63 degrees, and a 20 percent chance of showers after 4 p.m. Showers are likely on Wednesday, with a chance of showers on Thursday. High temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s.
