Chantz Koskie of Montezuma-Cortez High School was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by the Monsanto Company.

Koskie, the daughter of Kyle Koskie and Seely Daniels, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. Koskie’s significant experience and accomplishments have included earning a gold emblem proficiency award in agricultural sales, numerous chapter leadership awards, attending FFA’s premier Washington Leadership Conference and competing on the Cortez FFA’s state qualifying parliamentary procedure team.

Kevin McComb and Amanda Ramos are Chantz’s agricultural education instructors at Montezuma-Cortez High School.

This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 65th anniversary. Over these 65 years more than 168,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor. In 2011, over 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the Award.

As the winner of the 2012 Award, Chantz Koskie’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed in the agricultural education classroom at M-CHS. She also received a certificate and pin.

Monsanto, a long-time supporter of agricultural education, FFA, and other farm youth organizations and initiatives, sponsors the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award. Monsanto is a leading global provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products that improve farm productivity and food quality.
