The study, The Economic Contributions of Cultural Resources in Southwest Colorado, covered the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado, which includes Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.
The report gathered data from cultural sites in the Region 9 District, including Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, Anasazi Heritage Center, Hovenweep National Monument, Mesa Verde National Park, Ute Mountain Tribal Park and Yucca House National Monument in Montezuma County; Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum in La Plata County; and Chimney Rock National Monument in Archuleta County.
Results showed that the cultural sites generated 1,340 jobs and nearly $113.6 million in economic output during 2016.
