Saturday, Sept. 2

3:03 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 28000 block of Forest Road 528 on suspicion of prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment after deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area. Witnesses claimed the man had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend after drinking heavily and had fired several shots from his rifle “in a reckless manner.” When deputies arrived, the man was bleeding from a head injury apparently sustained when he fell and hit his head against an open car door. No gunshot wounds were reported. Emergency personnel from Southwest Memorial Hospital treated the suspect for the head injury before he was taken to jail.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

10:27 a.m.: A man was served with a La Plata County warrant for failure to appear at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

7:38 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on a warrant for assault after the car in which he was riding was pulled over for driving with an obstructed windshield. A juvenile passenger also had an active warrant, so he was issued a summons with a new court date.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

9:55 a.m.: A man turned himself in and was arrested at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

10 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a stolen license plate at the McPhee Reservoir, Dolores. A man claimed the license plate on his boat had been stolen sometime between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2, while it was parked at the reservoir. The case remains under investigation.

1:22 p.m.: A juvenile was cited for careless driving outside Dolores High School, 1301 Central Ave. A man claimed the juvenile had rear-ended him while he was leaving the school parking lot, causing damage to his vehicle’s rear bumper.

5:36 p.m.: A juvenile was cited at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant for failure to appear on an underage consumption and possession charge.

Thursday, Sept. 7

2:41 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of gunshots at Phil’s World Mountain Bike Trail, 9450 County Road 30.1. A man said he had heard a gun shot while he was biking, and had seen a man get into a truck afterward. Other cyclists on the trail reportedly said they hadn’t heard or seen anything to support the man’s claim. Deputies dropped the case due to lack of evidence.

Friday, Sept. 8

3:45 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
