Tia Flippin, of Dolores, was certified as a CRLA Level II Tutor for the Program for Academic Advancement at Fort Lewis College, according to a written release from the school.

The College Reading & Learning Association is an internationally recognized group of higher education professionals in the fields of reading, tutoring and mentoring. A Level I CRLA tutoring certification requires 10 hours of tutor training, 25 completed hours of tutoring, and a demonstrated competence as a peer educator. A Level II certification requires all that, plus an additional 25 hours of tutoring and completion of a 300-level, three-credit course in peer education. CRLA certification is the most prestigious recognition awarded to tutors at FLC.
