We all know that good nutrition is critical for a happy and healthy life. To many of us, that may seem out of reach.

However, there is an amazing program that is free of charge and actually doubles your dollars at the Cortez Farmers Market, where you can certainly find wonderful fresh and healthy food. It is the Double Up Program, sponsored by Live Well Colorado, Cooking Matters.

If you are a SNAP recipient (food stamps), you are eligible. All you have to do is to come to the Cortez Farmers Market at 220 S. Elm St. each Saturday morning from 7:30 to 11:30 and use your EBT card.

When you use that card at the information desk to receive Market Bucks, Double Up will add another $20 with which to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables! It is free, easy and there are no strings attached!

There are also market tours scheduled on Sept. 9 and Sept. 23 at 9 a.m., where you will meet your farmers and learn even more about the program. You do not have to take the tour to get double your dollars, but if you do take the tour, you will receive an additional $10.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain; see you at the Farmers Market. If you need more information or have additional questions, stop by the information tent at the market or call me at 970-560-2284.
