Barb Richhart, who hosts the “CowTrails” show on KSJD Radio, will be honored as “Radio DJ of the Year” at a national country music award show in October.

The Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association, a new organization of entertainers focused on portraying the western lifestyle, will host its first televised awards show on Oct. 14 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The awards will honor musicians, writers, craft-makers and actual cowboys and cowgirls for their contributions to Western-style culture.

Richhart has talked about the The Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association before on her show. A post uploaded to the CowTrails website on Aug. 8, 2016, just after the group’s formation, said it would “fill (a) void in traditional country music.” Now, Richhart said she’s thrilled to be given the award.

“I’m excited I get to represent our town,” she said. “It may not be a big deal to everyone, but it is to me.”

According to an Association news release, the awards ceremony will begin about 7:15 p.m., and will be broadcast live on Dish Network.
