The Dolores Bears baseball team suffered a couple road losses to start the season.

Last Saturday, the Bears had the bats going, but couldn’t contain the Piedra Vista junior varsity in a 20-9 loss at Farmington, N.M.

Nic Hassinger batted 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Cody Carroll also hit 2-for-2.

On Tuesday, Dolores (0-2) hit the road again to Moab, Utah, to take on Grand County High School. The home Red Devils exploded for 15 runs in the second inning on the way to a convincing 17-2 win in five innings.

Dey Camuzeno went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double for Dolores. Carroll took the loss on the mound each game.

The Bears will be close to home on Friday and Saturday in the Four Corners Classic, which is hosted by Montezuma-Cortez High School.

Dolores will play in the JV tournament at Engelhart Field beginning with M-CHS at 3 p.m., Friday. The Bears play twice Saturday at 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. against San Juan (Blanding, Utah) and Bayfield.
