Leadership Montezuma participants recently explored various cultural aspects that help define living in Montezuma County on Thursday, Jan. 19. Their day started at Crow Canyon Archeological Center, where they met Deborah Gangloff, President and CEO. While at Crow Canyon, they learned about ancestral Pueblo history, toured the Center’s lab, and heard about the Center’s collaborations with American Indians. Afterwards, the group went to Notah Dineh to expand upon relationships of traders and trading posts, then to a brief agricultural overview from the 4-H Extension Office and Future Farmers of America (FFA) and a tour of the Cortez Cultural Center. Finally, they met with local artists and had a brief introduction to alternative health and yoga. Thank you to the following businesses and individuals for making this day possible:Mitchell Toms; Crow Canyon Archeological Center, Josie Chang-Order, Margie Connolly, Rebecca Hammond, Kathy Stemmler and staff; Pepperheads Restaurant, Pete and Tess Montano and staff; Notah Dineh, Glenn and Gregg Leighton; Heart Path House, Karen Mischke; Cortez Cultural Center, Shawn Collins, Pat Rauscher and volunteers; Montezuma County Extension Office, Tonya Yates; Montezuma County Fairgrounds, Tanner Young, Mike Dooley, Tim Cook; FFA, Amanda Ramos, Chantz Koskie; and local artists, Barb Grist, Rebecca Hammond, Karen Kristin, Kristi Marcille-Smith, Janice Reich, and Ed Singer.
