We are not perfect, more like a family

In response to John Callan (Journal, June 22), good luck in your search for political nirvana.

You seem to be searching for a community that does not welcome diversity, but is insular and made up of people just like yourself and no “others.”

Seems you are running away from something instead of in search for something. Maybe you received the welcome you did because you asked the wrong questions. We here in the communities of the tri-cities area, Dolores, Cortez, and Mancos, are a mixture of beliefs and lifestyles. We don’t welcome people based on their socioeconomic status, political party, race, or health.

We are a community welcoming all. That’s what makes us a community or a community of communities. We’re not perfect; we’re not one stripe. We are a family of sorts.

So, take us for a community as we are, not what you want us to be. Maybe you wouldn’t like us because we’re not your perfection. Maybe that’s a good thing for us.
