Towns don’t come friendlier than Mancos

In regard to the gentleman who wrote that he felt Mancos was not very welcoming and asked if Cortez would be more friendly instead:

Folks in the Four Corners in general tend to be a very amiable bunch. We may have our differences of opinion and we may even have a heated county commissioners meeting or two. However, at the end of the day we are still all friends, neighbors, and members of our communities.

You asked if Cortez would be a friendlier town than Mancos. I doubt it, because Mancos is just about as friendly a town as one might ever hope to find.

Sure, Cortez tends to be more conservative, but even here, a person with very strong political views (right or left) and an obvious disgust with the marijuana industry is not going to make friends easily.

We like to get along here in Cortez. All these foolish political squabbles are better left to the sophisticated urban types in Phoenix and Denver. I don’t wear my political affiliation on my sleeve and most others in Montezuma County don’t either. We can even agree to disagree around here.

Perhaps the person who wrote that letter would be happier in a place like northern Idaho? Just a thought.
