Computer classes will aid in job search or basics

The Cortez Public Library will offer four computer classes during the month of February to assist attendees in finding a job, or just to learn the basics of computer use.

Gabe Torres from the Southwest Colorado Workforce Center will teach computer classes on Friday, Feb. 10 and Friday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. These classes will focus on various aspects of finding a job on the Internet, including: registering with the Workforce Center; updating Workforce registration; conducting job searches state wide; resume preparation and other computer skills related to finding a job.

On Thursday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m., Randy Funk will teach a class on Incredibly Basic Computers. Topics covered will include turning the computer on and off, using the mouse or mouse pad, opening, closing and moving a window, finding a website using the address bar and finding a website using Google. On Thursday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m., he will instruct a class on Computer Basics 2. This class will cover documents, folders, drives, and saving and printing documents.

Space is limited for these classes and participants must sign up ahead of time at the Cortez Public Library at 202 N. Park St. or by calling the library at 565-8117. Those interested may sign up for the job search class at any time; sign-ups for the Incredibly Basic Computer class will be accepted beginning on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m.
