The Dolores Bears wrestling team went 3-2 in dual action last week at Shiprock (N.M.) High School.
Dolores only faced schools from New Mexico and performed well. The Bears beat Farmington (40-24), Miyamura (54-12) and Bloomfield (45-18). Dolores lost to Aztec (57-18) and defending 4A state champion Piedra Vista (41-27).
Deano Valdez posted a 5-0 record to win a tournament title at 113 pounds. Four victories were by pin, while the other win was by forfeit against Bloomfield.
Wyatt Mattausch, Guy and Wyatt Wallace, and Richard Belt each went 4-1 at 126, 132, 160 and 220 pounds. Jeremiah Kotarski, Ethan Upton and Kacee Davis recorded 3-2 records at 106, 145 and 152 pounds.
Dolores will wrestle today at Paonias, Screaming Eagle tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
