The Dolores River snakes through canyons below McPhee Dam.

McPhee Reservoir managers expect the rafting flows on the Lower Dolores River to end this week as the last of the mountain snowpack melts off.

At noon June 21, flows below the dam were at 800 cubic feet per second, but will ramp down 25 cfs every three hours until it reaches 600 cfs. That level will hold for 24 hours before beginning to drop at the same rate of 25 cfs every three hours on Friday morning.

This pattern of dropping for a day, and holding for a day will continue until flows reach 78 cfs. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will then budget the fish pool and final summer release rates will be posted later this month. Boaters should check the Dolores River Boating Advocates website for the most up to date flow information.
