We’re the dummies

Dear Editor:

Regarding the recent letter by William Taylor, no, those in government are not world-class dummies. We, the uninformed public who vote them into office, are.

They are a cadre of welfare recipients on a magnitude that is hardly imaginable: $285,000 a year in salary, inside information on IPO investment opportunities to which the average person is not privy, two-thirds of their salary upon retirement with unlimited health care, followed by a job as a lobbyist. I wouldn’t say that constitutes being a dummy.

Those who don’t research, become informed and then vote are stupid. Ignorance can be eliminated; stupidity cannot.

There are 535 elected in Congress and millions of stupid people who put them there.
