Although the Re-1 School District Board of Education has not taken officialaction, the Journal has learned that Superintendent Stacy Houser has been asked to resign his position.

Sources close to the school district, who asked not to be named, said that Houser was asked to resign and that he has removed personal items from his office.

School Board President Tim Lanier was tight-lipped about the situation and declined to confirm Houser’s resignation.

“The official statement is that the board is not taking action, we don’t have a resignation yet. (Houser) has cleaned out his office,” Lanier said when contacted by the Journal late Wednesday afternoon.

When contacted by phone, Houser declined to comment.
