The Dolores Bears wrestling team started 2012 off in the right direction.
Last Saturday in Kirtland, N.M., the Bears split four duals against schools from the Land of Enchantment.
Five Dolores grapplers also posted 4-0 records at the tournament.
Dolores defeated Gallup, 41-34, and Newcomb, 48-33. The Bears did lose heartbreakers to Shiprock, 42-41, and Piedra Vista, 44-36.
Deano Valdez (113 pounds), Wyatt Wade (120), Wyatt Mattausch (126), Ethan Upton (145) and Richard Belt (heavyweight) all posted 4-0 records on the day.
Wyatt Wallace went 3-1 at 160 pounds. Jeremiah Kotarski and Griffin Williams posted 2-2 records at 106 and 170 pounds.
Dolores will wrestle again in New Mexico at the Shiprock High School tournament on Friday and Saturday.
