Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project hosts a heritage apple tree sale and fundraiser on June 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 17312 County Road G in McElmo Canyon, according to a news release emailed by Adalyn Schuenemeyer.

Buyers may choose from nearly 50 rare apple varieties grafted by MORP. Proceeds will benefit the establishment of school, community and public orchards by growing and donating the rare genetics across Colorado, made possible by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant award.

MORP members helped raise over $6,000 toward MORP’s orchard and “re-orcharding” program during the member’s-only event at the beginning of June, according to the news release. Hundreds of trees will be offered at the sale.

Trees are $50 except the rediscovered Colorado Orange apple, which goes for $100. MORP members receive $10 off each heritage tree and qualify for a $20 discount when they buy at least 30 trees.
