SATURDAY, DEC. 17

Ÿ An officer was dispatched to a residence for a report of a disturbance. A man had attempted to get into a woman’s house, and had scared her by beating on the door and yelling for her to call the cops, which she did. The pounding stopped, but she was afraid to go outside. As the responding officer was walking back to the patrol car, he was approached by the male subject who yelled at him not to leave, and told him that someone was after him and trying to kill him. The officer noted that there was sweat pouring off of the subject, and that he was very nervous and could not hold still. He produced a purple black light bulb and said that someone was trying to kill him and take the money he had won at the casino. He said that in the bulb was a video camera pointed at his bed and it was videotaping him and his wife having sex. The officer examined the light bulb and saw nothing inside but the filament. The subject said that someone was staking out his place and waiting until he returned. He appeared to be hallucinating and would duck down every time a vehicle passed by. The subject told the officer that he had used methamphetamine one day ago. He said that he needed protective custody because someone was trying to kill him. He would not give a name, but said that they are out there and are listening to every word he said. The male had broken a small window out of the front door of the next door residence and had unlocked the door and gone inside. The subject said that he told the old man inside to call the cops. The reporting party did not want to press charges, as the subject was willing to pay right then to replace the broken window. He was taken to the ER to be checked out due to using meth the day before.

THURSDAY, DEC. 22

Ÿ An officer patrolling saw a juvenile male stumbling north through a businesses’ parking lot. It was very cold out, and the male was walking without a coat on. The officer stopped and asked the juvenile if he was OK, to which he replied he was cold and was just trying to get home. The officer noted that he was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. The officer told him that he would give him a ride home. The officer asked him if he had been drinking, and the young male told him that he’d had a beer and a couple of shots at his cousin’s house because he was mad at his mom for drinking. He was driven to his mother’s house, and it was explained to her what had happened. The juvenile was issued a summons for underage drinking and was left in the care of his mother.

Ÿ An officer responded to a local mobile home park for a report of a vandalized windshield. A male on scene told officers that he had parked his pickup in the driveway after getting off work, and when he came back out to go to the store, he noticed the windshield had been shattered. He said that an engagement ring had also been taken from the glove box. The door to the truck was unlocked. The ring was described as a single gold band with half of the ring inset with diamonds, valued at approximately $1,000.

SUNDAY, DEC. 25

Ÿ An officer was dispatched to a residence for a report of theft. The resident told the officer that her wood carving had been stolen overnight from her front porch, and had been there the night of Christmas Eve. She had not seen anyone hanging around her house. The wood carving is of a bear, about three feet high, with a “welcome” sign at the base, and an engraving on the bottom that says “2007.” The bear had been wearing a Santa hat and a red ribbon around its neck. She thought the value to be about $250.

TUESDAY, DEC. 27

Ÿ An officer responded to the scene of a vehicle off the roadway and was the first to arrive. He observed a vehicle that had gone off the road and down an embankment, and had come to a stop after colliding with a fence. The headlights were on, and the engine was still running. There was a female kneeling across the driver’s seat who appeared to be grabbing her purse, who was recognized by the officer from previous contacts. The woman was uninjured and told the officer that she was heading to a friend’s house, but got lost and when leaning over to grab her cell phone to call her friend she went off the road. The officer detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from the woman’s breath, but she denied that she had been drinking. Due to the cold, the officer allowed the woman to sit in his patrol car to fill out paperwork, and when she exited, the officer observed that the inside of the patrol vehicle was filled with an odor of alcohol. The woman went back to her car, telling the officer she was going to see if she could find her cell phone. While she looked through her car, the officer observed an open bottle of what appeared to be alcohol on the back floorboard of the car. A state trooper took the woman through roadside sobriety maneuvers, which she failed; she was placed under arrest.

Ÿ An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to two adult shoplifters. The officer met with the asset protection coordinator in his officer, where he sat with the two 18-year-old females. He told the officer that an employee had observed the two females come into the store with empty purses, and when they left the store, the purses appeared to be full. The females were observed where one selected a pair of women’s leggings in the women’s department, and the other selected a two-pack of children’s cups. They then went into the shoe department where they were observed putting the items into their purses. The females then split up and went different directions and tried to exit the store at opposite ends of the building. When confronted outside, one of the females denied having the merchandise and began to walk to the parking lot. The asset protection coordinator walked with her, and saw the other female standing outside in front of the store. They agreed to give the merchandise back, and accompanied him back inside the store. The females produced the stolen items; one theft totalled $53.88, and the other, $8.78. They were issued summonses for shoplifting.
