Ÿ Justin T. Owens, 22, of Mancos, pleaded guilty to one count of harassment — strike/shove/kick. He received a deferred sentence of 24 months supervised probation, and was ordered to pay $1,487.50 in fines and costs. He must obtain a domestic violence evaluation and an alcohol/substance abuse evaluation and follow all recommendations. He must report to state probation. Defendant may not contract any financial obligations without approval of his probation officer and/or collections investigator. He must engage in no alcohol or illegal drug use and must submit to random testing for drugs and alcohol use, per probation. Early termination of probation is possible on completion of domestic violence requirements.

Ÿ Leon Johnson, 21, of Teec Nos Pos, Ariz., pleaded guilty to one count of harassment — strike/shove/kick. He was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation, and was ordered to pay $1,478.50 in fines and costs. Defendant must obtain alcohol/drug and substance abuse/domestic violence/ and anger management evaluation and follow all recommendations. He was ordered to consume no alcohol or illegal drugs, and ordered to abstain from driving without a valid license. Additionally, he must obtain his GED. He was ordered to report to state probation on this date and follow all recommendations of probation officer. He was sentenced to perform 48 hours of community service, but useful public service will be suspended as long as the defendant obtains his GED within the next year.

Ÿ Corvantis Benally, 23, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to one count of harassment — strike/shove/kick. He was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation, and was ordered to pay $1,523.50 in fines and costs. He was ordered to obtain an alcohol and substance abuse evaluation and follow all recommendations. His probation may be transferred to Arizona. Random monitoring is authorized as per probation. He was ordered to report to probation immediately. Defendant shall not contract any financial obligations without the approval of his probation officer and/or collections investigator. Additionally, he must not operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

TUESDAY, DEC. 20

Ÿ Lila Yvonne Swank, 47, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to one count of third degree assault — knowingly/recklessly causing injury. She was sentenced to 24 months supervised probation, and was ordered to pay $1,512 in fines and costs. She must undergo an anger management evaluation and follow all recommendations, and was ordered to perform 20 hours of community service. A protection order is in effect throughout probation. Restitution is open for 90 days, and the defendant must report to state probation as of this date.

Ÿ Ryan D. Maestas, 25, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to one count of third degree assault — knowingly/recklessly causing injury. He was sentenced to two days in jail beginning on Dec. 21, and to 12 months of unsupervised probation. He was ordered to pay $722.82 in fines and costs. Defendant must attend anger management classes and provide proof to the court; enrollment in anger management classes must occur within 30 days. Restitution is to be paid in full by end of business day Dec. 21. He was ordered to violate no laws — traffic or criminal, and must keep his address current with the court.
