TUESDAY, DEC. 6

Ÿ An officer responded to a location on West Seventh Street regarding an aggressive dog running at large. A woman told the officer that a dark brown pit-bull-type dog attempted to bite the shoe or ankle of two relatives of hers as they were trying to leave their residence. A dog was observed outside matching the description, and was positively identified as the dog in question. The officer went to the residence where the dog was hanging around with another mixed-breed brown and white pup. The pit bull and the pup were leashed and taken to the shelter, with the pit bull behaving fearful and defensively, and growling. The officer was flagged down by the owner of the dogs as she was leaving the area, who wanted to know if she knew where the dogs were. He was informed of the incident with his dog, and confirmed that it was not licensed or vaccinated for rabies. He informed the officer that he lives in numerous places when asked for his address. He was issued a citation. Having a previous warrant, the dogs’ owner was transported to the detention facility. Prior to his incarceration, he advised the officer that his dog had a week-old pup at the residence, and the officer told him that she would go get the pup and put him with his mother. Two more men flagged down the officer, also looking for the two dogs. When informed of the situation, one of them went inside and got the very young puppy that still had its eyes shut. The puppy was reunited with its mother at the shelter.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 7

Ÿ An officer was dispatched to a local restaurant in reference to a theft. An employee told the officer that three teenagers dressed in all black clothing, a female and two males, had come in and the female had ordered “a drink” and could not produce ID when asked for it. She ordered water for all three, and told the employee that she would order after she returned from the rest room. All three got up and went into the hallway to the rest rooms. When none of them returned, the employee found the back door ajar and a box of wine missing from a nearby shelf. The employee provided a possible name for the female suspect.

SATURDAY, DEC. 10

Ÿ An officer responded to an assault call, and spoke with a woman who told him that she had come home to find out that her daughter had been drinking. She said that as soon as she arrived home, her daughter threw her 18-month-old child at her. The woman said that she caught her grandchild just as his head struck her in the face. The daughter began calling her mother profanities when she asked her to be nice to her other two children, and said that she was “never around for her.” The woman took the two other grandchildren to her bedroom to avoid a confrontation with her daughter. The daughter came into the woman’s bedroom and told the children to leave the room, and then began yelling at the woman, who tried to ignore her. When the daughter could not get a reaction, she walked over to the television set and picked it up to throw it. The woman grabbed the TV to prevent this from happening, and the daughter began pulling her hair. The woman tried to leave the room, but was followed by the daughter who tried to hit her. The woman called 911 for help, and then the daughter grabbed her by the hair with both hands and threw her to the ground, and began kicking her. She left before officers arrived, and returned later that night, breaking through the front door. She attacked her mother again while she was holding the infant, throwing them both to the ground. The daughter took the children and left without putting coats on them, although the temperature was around 20 degrees. Officers were unable to locate the daughter or the three children, after checking with a series of acquaintances. She will be issued a citation for third-degree assault and child abuse when found.

Ÿ An officer was dispatched to the American Legion in reference to a vehicle crash. He was advised that a vehicle had hit the building and then left the area. The reporting party showed the officer where the building had been damaged and indicated pieces of the vehicle lying on the ground. She said that she had been inside when she heard the sound of the crash; when she went outside she found the vehicle up against the building and a female she was able to name was lying on the ground next to the open driver’s side door. The reporting party ran back inside to call 911, and when she came back out, the woman and vehicle were gone. Another officer advised that he had located the vehicle in a parking lot of an apartment complex. The first officer arrived at the location to find the second officer in an apartment; the suspect was lying face down on the floor. She told officers she was all right when asked if she needed medical attention. She was very intoxicated, and when asked why she left the scene after she hit the building, she said that she wanted to talk to a lawyer and didn’t want to talk to the officer anymore. After being medically cleared, the woman was taken to the jail and issued a summons for DUI, careless driving, and duty to report, and was served a notice of revocation of her driver’s license.

MONDAY, DEC. 12

Ÿ An officer heard that a sheriff’s deputy air a call that he had a vehicle on the run from him. Soon after, he reported that he had found the vehicle parked and unattended at a residence. The officer responded to assist. The officer found that the deputy had seen a known suspect driving the vehicle and assumed that the suspect had left on foot; as search of the area did not turn up the suspect. Another officer advised from where the vehicle was parked that the officers at the scene were in contact with a couple with whom they’d had numerous previous contacts. The male was being very belligerent and rude toward the officers, saying they had no reason to contact him. Officers learned from dispatch that the male was wanted on an active warrant for failure to appear. He was advised of this, and handcuffed and transported to the jail. He was very rude, and claimed that he was homeless and did not have a phone.
