Instead of criticizing Representative Scott Tipton, we should be grateful to him for working tirelessly to be sure that important issues were included in the AHCA ,which passed the House last week.
He refused to sign on until such items as pre-existing conditions were included. Other issues that have not been included in the mainstream media debate are the many taxes that were included in the (un)Affordable Health Care Act and will go away with the AHCA.
We should all be reminded that former President Obama famously promised not to raise taxes on anyone who earns less than $250,000 annually. Coloradans should also know that at least seven of the taxes that are included in the current Affordable Care Act can and have impacted those of us in the middle and lower class.
And it’s not just the middle class that have been burdened by the ACA; the high earners, and businesses are also burdened. A few of the law’s most severe taxes are aimed at the upper class. This both hurts job creation and it stymies economic growth. Our businesses are also burdened.
These punishing taxes, 12 of which were eliminated in the AHCA, drastically hike the cost of doing good business. This affects our vibrant Colorado businesses being able to hire the quality and the quantity of candidates they need.
The American Health Care Act gives a much needed sigh of relief to millions of Americans by eliminating 12 harmful taxes imposed by the ACA.
