Friday, May 12

7:55 a.m.: Police responded to a report of vandalism at TDS Telecom, 219 E. First St. About $300 of damage was done to a fence by painting the letters “JSCCOUZJO” on it with blue spray paint. The case remains under investigation.

9:19 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 300 block of East Arbecam Avenue. A horse cart and a 16-inch tire, valued at $120 total, were reportedly stolen from a residence. The case remains under investigation.

9:49 a.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed he had tried to leave without paying for a bottle of Aleve.

1:45 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of a protection order violation and resisting arrest at City Park, 802 E. Main St. He reportedly tried to pull away from the officers when they handcuffed him and continued to yell insults at them throughout the arrest. He was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for severe intoxication before going to the jail.

4:34 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 800 block of North Park Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

7:25 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a La Plata County misdemeanor charge.

9:48 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of West North Street on two warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges and on suspicion of failing to use a child restraint system, driving with a denied license and failing to stop at a stop sign. A 7-year-old and a 6-year-old were riding unrestrained in his vehicle when it was pulled over.

Saturday, May 13

12:34 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of West Main Street on two warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges.

3 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons in the 800 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park.

4:43 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 400 block of West Second Street. A man reported his bicycle had been stolen from his yard sometime between 1 p.m. on May 11 and 4:30 p.m. on May 13. The case remains under investigation.

8:19 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 300 block of East Third Street on suspicion of driving without proof of insurance, DUI, driving without a valid license, failing to stop at a stop sign, child abuse and an open container violation. The woman allegedly collided with another vehicle, then with a tree, while driving with her infant daughter improperly secured in the back seat. Both the woman and the child were treated for minor injuries at Southwest Memorial Hospital. The collision caused damage to the driver side of the other vehicle, but the driver did not appear to be injured.

10:11 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed she had tried to steal a pair of pants, a jar of lotion and a pack of toothbrushes, valued at $18.17 total.

Sunday, May 14

8:20 a.m.: A man was arrested at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony.

12:02 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 10 block of South Market Street. A truck had been graffitied with the letters “ASC Cortez” in blue spray paint, causing an estimated $250 in damage. The same letters had been painted on three planter boxes near the Southwest Medical Group building on 20 S. Market St. The case remains under investigation.

Monday, May 15

8:38 p.m.: Two women were issued summonses on suspicion of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed they had tried to steal a purse and several other items, valued at $40.23.

8:50 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of North Park Street on suspicion of being intoxicated in a roadway and interfering with an officer. Officers approached him because he was allegedly rolling in a drainage ditch and was clearly intoxicated, but when he saw them, he allegedly ran into the street and was nearly hit by a vehicle before the police caught up to him.

11:26 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 2200 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI after another driver called police to claim she was tailgating him.

Tuesday, May 16

9:51 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 26000 block of County Road L on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge, and on suspicion of speeding, driving without insurance and driving under suspension.

2:38 p.m.: A woman was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed she tried to steal a package of batteries valued at $6.94.

3:33 p.m.: A man was arrested outside LivWell, 1819 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting. Wal-Mart employees claimed he had stolen $405.39 of merchandise.

8:43 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of West Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a felony charge in Salt Lake City, Utah, after police responded to a report of a disturbance in which he was involved, where no charges were filed.

9:14 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway, on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge and on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. A baggie containing about 1 gram of methamphetamine was found in one of his pockets.

10:52 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 500 block of South Madison Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and a protection order violation. A small amount of methamphetamine concealed in a pack of cigarettes was found in her jacket pocket.
