One year after graduating several senior stalwarts, the Mancos High School track team returned to the Class 2A State Track Meet in Lakewood, May 20-21, and watched a new wave of talent emerge.

Pacing the Bluejays was freshman Caden Showalter, whose sixth-place finish in the discus (135 feet, 9 inches) made him the highest ranked ninth-grader at the meet. Showalter also finished 15th in the shot put (39 feet, 4¾ inches).

Freshmen Anthony Medina and Breccen Morelli also came through with solid performances for Mancos, finishing 14th in the long jump (19 feet, 1 inch) and 17th in the 400-meter dash (54.46), respectively.
