After being closed for about 10 months, the Dolores Restaurant was expected to open Friday with a new name — Vic’s Diner.

Victor Nuñez Jr., a 2007 graduate of Dolores High School, will help run the restaurant, along with former Dolores Restaurant owners and parents Victor Nuñez Sr. and Maggie Nuñez.

Since graduating from Dolores High School, Nuñez moved to California where he worked in Hollywood as a certified BMW mechanic. He lived in Hollywood for two years, met his wife Denise and had a son Elijah.

When Elijah was born, 8 months ago, his parents decided to move back to Dolores, wanting to raise their son there.

Nuñez said he has helped his parents at the Roundup Diner since they moved their restaurant there and closed the Dolores Restaurant.

They all recently made the decision to reopen their location in Dolores.

“We will all work together to run both restaurants,” Nuñez said.

Nuñez said the restaurant will offer American and Mexican food, and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“We will have a daily special for those that don’t have too much money, and we will bring back Taco Tuesday,” he said.

Nuñez said dinners will mainly focus around Mexican food.

“We are going to have lower prices,” he said. “Breakfast is going to be really good.”

Nuñez said the menus will be different this time around and will feature seafood as well.

“We will try to make our customers happy,” he said.

Nuñez said his father is training him and passing down his 30 years of restaurant experience.

“We thank God that we are able to reopen this restaurant,” Nuñez said.
