Mancos harriers run state meet

The Mancos High School cross-country team capped off another successful season at state on Saturday.

The Colorado High School Activities Association 2A Cross Country State Championships were held at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds in Aurora.

The Mancos Lady Bluejays placed eighth out of 12 teams with 99 points. Freshman Kristin Adams led the way with her 24th place time of 22:59.56. Adams was followed by senior Rachel Beverlin in 27th at 23:11.36. Freshman Danika Evensen took 48th in 24:38.61, while senior Devin Kroeker concluded her career in 58th at 25:57.51.

The girls team and individual championships went to Nederland. The team scored 19 points and Kelley Robinson took the top time of 18:42.31. Region-4 champion Telluride placed third with 27 points.

On the boys side, Mancos had two runners represent. Sophomore Justin Burton outlasted junior teammate Brandon McKie 19:30.38 to 19:30.98. The two Bluejays finished 40th and 41st respectively.

Crested Butte Community won the boys team title with 21 points. Telluride’s Ty Williams won the individual 2A state championship in 16:26.03.
