Cortez library’s summer reading program begins June 1

The Cortez Public Library’s summer reading program plans to host six family entertainment programs on Tuesdays from June 6 to July 19.

The programs start at 2 p.m. The final show will be held on Wednesday, July 19.

The scheduleJune 6, 2 p.m.: Magician Cody LandstromJune 13, 2 p.m.: Author and cartoonist Matthew Henry Hall, with a cartoon workshop for tweens and teens after the performanceJune 20, 2 p.m.: Ventriloquist Meghan Casey and the Rocky Mountain PuppetsJune 27, 2 p.m.: Clown Jim Jackson of the Millibo Art TheatreJuly 11, 2 p.m.: Magician Tall PaulJuly 19, 2 p.m.: Singer Andy MasonThe summer reading program runs June 1 – July 28. Kids and teens can pick up reading logs and track the number of books they read on June 1. Participants must register online to receive a T-shirt when the program ends. There will also be a prize drawing at the end of the program.

The library’s preschool Storytime program continues every Thursday starting at 10:30 a.m. Older children may come for a craft at 11:15 a.m. The Library also offers a summer Storytime at the Cortez Farmers Market every Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., during the season, weather permitting. The Farmers Market Storytime follows the same theme each week as the regular preschool Storytime.
