Journal/Reid Wright Community Banks of Colorado Cortez Branch, located on East Main St., remained open Monday after being bought out by another bank Friday. Officials say client accounts are secured and there will be no impact to local customers by the buyout.

The financially troubled Community Banks of Colorado, with branch locations in Cortez and Dove Creek, was taken over by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and sold to Bank Midwest, National Association, Friday.

As a FDIC-insured bank, officials say customers’ assets are secure and there will be no impacts to their holdings or accounts. Current checks as well as credit and debit cards are still valid.

Local branches are currently set to remain open under the same name and business hours. No changes to bank personnel are anticipated, said Angela Austin, a spokesperson for NBH Holdings.
