Southwest Health EMS to host mobile emergency preparedness training

Southwest Health System EMS plans a 2-day training program on May 19-20 focusing on medical management of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive weapons.

Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service will conduct the training at the Southwest Health System Annex at 20 S. Market St.

The program is designed for audiences including EMS, fire and hazmat personnel, law enforcement, public health, physicians, emergency management professionals and hospital personnel. The course is funded by the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The course includes discussions, exercises and hands-on activities as well as patient simulators. Participants will receive 15 hours of Emergency Nurses Association or American Academy of Family Physicians credits.
