Martin Cuntz, a Durango Youth Birding Ambassador, will guide a birdwatching tour designed especially for fellow teens during the Ute Mountain-Mesa Verde Birding Festival.

Cuntz, 15, attends Durango High School. He leads small bird outings and counts, and recently was named the Club’s Youth Ambassador, according to a news release from Patricia Richmond.

The youth tour gives birders a chance to explore with their peer group. The tour van leaves the Cortez Cultural Center at 6:45 a.m. on May 14, and heads to Summit Reservoir State Wildlife Area. Hikers will observe waterfowl, cormorants, wild turkeys, jays, warblers, flycatchers, eagles and other raptors. Restrooms are available on site, and the tour fee includes lunch, water and snacks.
