A wildfire caused by an out-of-control campfire scorched approximately 150 acres of public land northeast of Pleasant View over the weekend.

The fire was fully contained Monday, according to a statement from Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch.

No structures were reported threatened.

The fire started Saturday, during a “red flag” burning ban, near the Bradfield Bridge area and is attributed to an escaped campfire, said Scott McDermid, west zone fire management officer for Dolores Public Lands. It has burned U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Division of Wildlife land.

Pleasant View and Dove Creek Fire departments were the initial responders, followed by personnel from San Juan Public Lands, Ute Mountain U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, Mesa Verde National Park and the Black Hills National Forest.

The fire is estimated to have cost $10,000, and 50 personnel have been deployed, according to information from federal, local and state agencies.

A Dolores Public Lands Office fire engine and crew will remain on site for the rest of the week to monitor the burned area and put out any hot spots.
