Last year vendors filled the fairgrounds indoor arena.

Almost 90 vendors are lined up to exhibit their wares and services for the 11th annual Home and Garden Show this weekend.

Everything from pillows to candles, and log homes to decorative rock will be showcased or sold at the two-day event, according to Vonnie Robinson, interim executive officer of Four Corners Builders Association, which sponsors the show. The show runs from 12 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 8, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds on U.S. Highway 160 east of Cortez.

“As far as vendors, we’ve got landscapers coming, health care information, clothing, roofing, photography, sheds, cooking utensils and lots more,” she said.

Everything including the kitchen sink — that will fit right in with the show — will be there.

Robinson said vendors will be coming from out beyond the Four Corners including some from Utah and Greeley, Colo.

Local business owner Trevor McDonald will have a booth for Sunrose Lawn and Landscape. This will be McDonald’s fourth year participating in the show.

“I think we’re going to try to do a water feature with some rock work and trees,” McDonald said about his booth’s design.

Cindy Thompson of Kohana Enterprises is a representative for Vollara health products and will feature some of them in her second year at the Home and Garden Show. She said she will demonstrate how some of the products work such as Vollara’s air purifiers and energy saving products. One such product, called Laundry Pure, doesn’t require hot water or laundry detergent to get your clothes clean. Thompson said it uses an ionization process and hooks up to the current washing machine in the home.

“These are products that are getting popular fast. We have two major league baseball teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals, that are using (Vollara’s) alkaline water and nutritional products,” Thompson said.

At least 3,500 people attended last year’s show, according to builders association’s website.

New this year is a pet house building contest that is open to the public. There is no entry fee, and pet houses will be judged by Home and Garden Show attendees. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, and the pet houses will be auctioned off with proceeds donated to For Pets’ Sake.

Raffle prizes this year are a Toshiba 1080p full high definition LCD TV for first place, a Nintendo Wii video gaming system bundle for second place, and an Acer 15.6-inch laptop for third place.
