The first band to perform at the Sugar Pine Ranch Motorcycle Rally will be Last Minute, this evening at 7 p.m. They are from New Mexico and play a lot of songs everyone will enjoy!

Soul Men, a tribute to The Blues Brothers, will be performing at the rally on Sunday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30.

Dan Cawthorne, who plays Elwood, is excited about coming to Colorado to play at the rally.

“We’re very crowd interactive. ... Jake will go into the crowd with the microphone ... get everybody singing clapping ... maybe do a line dance or a congo line,” Cawthorne said.

They live in Cleveland, Ohio, and play at bars, country clubs and blues festivals, doing the same thing that Dan Akroyd and John Belushi did in the movie that came out in 1980.

“We started out at Central Michigan State University, in a lip sync contest, and won the first prize when we did the Blue Brothers then. We’ve been doing it ever since.”

They usually play all the favorite Blues Brothers songs, such as “Soul Man,” “Hey, Bartender,” and “Rubber Biscuit.” They love taking requests from the audience, too.

We work with several different back-up bands, Cawthorne said.

“A lot of times we just step in with a band that’s already there. They get the experience and we get the benefit of a band.”

The Soul Men’s persona is an uncanny resemblance to “The Blues Brothers.” Dressed in black from head to toe, displaying finger tattoos, The Soul Men impersonate Jake and Elwood to perfection. Their website is www.TheSoulmen.com.

Bon/Scott is an AC/DC tribute band. With Kyran Brennan as Bon Scott on lead vocals, Greg Park as Angus Young on lead guitar, Kevin Sage as Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar, Tom Tindale as CCliff Williams on bass, adn Terry Douglas as Phil Rudd on drums, the band provides the next best thing to a live AC/DC show.

“If you build it, they will come.” That has been the motto since the beginning for B/S. Five seasoned musicians operate on one belief: If you take the time to be as authentic as possible and act professionally in every respect, the rest will take care of itself. And it has! Since the band’s inception, they have played for tens of thousands in dozens of cities across the Southwest.

They do all the songs that AC/DC does and are really looking forward to playing at the rally. They will be on the stage at 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Stevie Ray Vaughn fans will appreciate the one-time performance of Voodoo Blue, a tribute to SRV. There are four members of the band that have only been together since last December, but the bass player, Steve Buckner, actually started the band about 10 years ago. “Tommy (SRV) has played with me before off and on…so has the keyboard player,” Buckner said.

“The inception of this project was to bring good music to people. ... Stevie Ray was such a great player and a great influence.”

Voodoo Blue has opened up for some bigger bands, such as The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Johnny Winter.

“We hope to turn everyone on to Stevie’s music and make some more fans,” Buckner said. Voodoo Blue will be playing on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Their website is www.voodooblue.net.

The Fab 4 is a Beatles tribute band from right here in Colorado. They look and sound like the original Beatles and will sing their songs to take everyone back to when they were popular. The will be rocking the crownd on Sunday evening at 9 p.m. Their website is www.the-fab-4.com.
