Former wrestler makes NCAA II nationals meet

Alamosa - Adams State College redshirt freshman Justin Samora (Montezuma-Cortez High School) qualified for the March 11 and 12, NCAA II National Championships in Kearney, Neb., by finishing fourth at 157 pounds at the Super Regional Four/Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday, Feb. 27 at San Francisco (Calif.) State University’s Main Gymnasium.

Samora pinned Mesa State College’s Jon Gappmaier at the 6:21 mark of the consolation semifinals, before dropping a 4-0 decision to Grand Canyon’s Ted Bristol in the third-place match. Samora is now 16-12 on the year.
