Sunday, March 26

3:16 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 100 block of East Third Street on warrants for failure to appear from Montezuma and La Plata counties after a vehicle in which she was the passenger was pulled over for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver of the car was given a verbal warning.

11:45 a.m.: A man was given a summons on suspicion of an open container violation in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave.

2:51 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of South Madison Street on a local felony warrant and on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after the driver of the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for not having a valid license. Several needles and measuring spoons containing heroin residue were found in the man’s pockets. The driver of the vehicle was cited for driving without a license and failing to present proof of insurance.

7:21 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Dolores State Bank, 744 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

9:54 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 400 block of North Madison Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and driving a defective vehicle after he was pulled over for making overly wide turns with a broken turn signal. The man claimed he had been drinking at the American Legion and Angel’s End Zone.

10:03 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 1100 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle after two people reported she was possibly suicidal. The woman had several small cuts on her arm, which were treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital before she was transported to the jail.

Monday, March 27

11:01 a.m.: A woman reported an incident of criminal mischief at Butler Head Start, 1320 E. Empire St., which occurred over spring break. She claimed someone had used a canvas tarp used to cover a sand pit for a tent, and had burned holes in it, causing $300 of damage. The case remains under investigation.

12:56 p.m.: A man was arrested at Four Corners Community Bank, 77 W. Main St., on suspicion of DUI and careless driving after he almost ran into the Edward Jones building and collided with another car in a nearby parking lot while exiting the bank. Neither car was damaged.

3:54 p.m.: A man was arrested at Ute Mountain Motel, 531 S. Broadway, on suspicion of domestic violence, third-degree assault, criminal mischief, harassment and false imprisonment. Witnesses claimed he had punched his girlfriend several times in the head and face after breaking down the door to the bathroom where she was hiding.

4:47 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of violating a protection order.

8:47 p.m.: A man reported the tab on his truck had been stolen in the 200 block of North Washington Street. The case remains under investigation.

Tuesday, March 28

10:51 a.m.: A man was arrested at Cortez City Park, 802 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park.

11:59 a.m.: A man was arrested at the Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear.

12:30 p.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to comply after customers reported he was carrying a knife outside the store and was clearly intoxicated.

2:09 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of Brookside Drive on suspicion of driving while his license was revoked for being a habitual traffic offender, operating an uninsured vehicle and displaying expired number plates.

6:49 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 10 block of South Madison Street on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of an open container violation.

7:30 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1300 block of N. Mildred Road on suspicion of violating bond conditions.

8:27 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing at Shiloh’s Steakhouse, 5 S. Veach St. He behaved aggressively toward responding officers throughout the arrest, kicking the interior of the patrol car on the way to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for severe intoxication.
