All Schools Sports’ Physicals



Montezuma-Cortez High School will provide sports’ physicals on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 9-10, at the M-CHS Library from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and 3:30 to 8 p.m. Pick up forms now, as they will need to be filled out before athletes arrive. Forms are available at M-CHS and Cortez Middle School. It’s a $20 charge. For more information, please call 565-3722 ext. 121 or 122.




Ute Mountain Rodeo Team Meeting



Current and new Ute Mountain Rodeo team members will have the first meeting of the new season on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m. in Bob Banks Memorial Arena at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds with weather permitting. The meeting will be moved to the indoor arena, if there is inclement weather. For more information, please contact Karen Maxwell at 560-2657.




M-CHS Youth Football Camp



Join us on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12-13, to learn the game of football and have fun while doing it at the Montezuma-Cortez High School youth football camp. This summer, the Panthers football staff and team are offering a day camp for grades second through eighth. Campers will develop football skills including, passing, catching, punting, kicking, tackling, blocking, and will participate in various football games. No equipment will be needed. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the M-CHS practice football field with a cost of $40. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 12, then report to the practice football field. Also be sure to catch the Panthers in action on Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. when they host Miyamura (N.M.) in their home opener at Panther Stadium.




Escalante Days Softball Tournament



The Dolores Escalante Days softball tournament will be held at Joe Rowell Park on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13-14. There will be men’s and women’s teams. Cost is $225 per team. Concessions will be available. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug. 10. Contact Missy at 739-4945 for more information.




Medicine Horse Golf Tournament



South Forty Golf Course, located at 25500 Road H, is hosting the third annual Medicine Horse ‘Masters’ Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 27. Registration is at 8 a.m. Scramble format/shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cost to participate is $25 per player ($100 per four-person team). There will also be driving range, closest to the pin and longest putt challenges, and more! Entry fee includes nine holes of golf, course drinks, lunch, and a whole lot of fun! All event proceeds go to Medicine Horse equine assisted therapy programs.

The Medicine Horse Center is a Colorado charitable not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Please pre-register by calling 533-7403 or download a registration form from our Website at www.medicinehorsecenter.org.




Cortez Recreation Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, and Coed Flag Football



The city of Cortez is now taking reservations for regular season men’s and women’s volleyball. Teams will consist of at least six players. The season begins on Monday, Sept. 12. Each team will receive eight games and a double elimination tournament. The cost to play is $175 per team. Come by the Cortez Recreation Center to register. Registrations close Thursday, Sept. 1.

The Cortez Rec. Center is also taking registrations for Coed flag football. Teams will consist of a minimum of six players, three men and three women. Each team will receive a six game season and a single elimination tournament. The cost to play is $175. The season begins Sept. 12. The registration deadline is Sept. 1. Come by the Cortez Rec. Center to register.




M-CHS Booster Club Meeting



The next meeting for the Montezuma-Cortez High School Booster Club will be held on Monday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m in the M-CHS Library. All meetings for this school year will be held the first Monday of the month that is not a holiday. Our athletes need our support, please join us! Tri-City Soccer Sign Ups



Tri-city soccer still has space available for children to sign up. U4 has 12 spots, U6 has 11 spots, U8 has eight spots, U10 girls has five spots, U10 boys has five spots and U12 boys has four spots.
