Shawn Gregory is currently in the heart of the 2011 Colorado Trail Race.
The 40-year-old is on the toughest stretch between the Collegiate Peaks detour near Buena Vista to the Weminuche Wilderness detour by Silverton. As of 6:22 a.m. Wednesday, Gregory was on the Colorado Trail in the Rocky Mountains west of Centerville.

The annual Colorado Trail Race began Monday morning above Denver and the races concludes in Durango. Gregorys goal is to complete the race in five to seven days on his Trek singlespeed mountain bike.
Gregory is racing to increase awareness and help raise funds for The NEST (Nurturing Environment for Safe Transitions) in Cortez.The NEST is a child advocacy center that provides a safe, child-friendly environment that eases the emotional trauma experienced by children during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.
