Attention one and all! Young and old! Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! You will not want to miss the event of the year: The Montezuma County Fair is Friday, July 29, through Saturday, Aug. 6.

Come and see all of the things that 4-H members have accomplished this year. Make sure you participate as well by entering your things into open class. You can bring items in for open class on Sunday and Monday, then the judging will start late Monday morning.

Here are some of the things that will be going on at the Montezuma County Fair:

Friday is the Bare, Broncs and Bulls.

Saturday come watch the 4-H Archery shoot.

Sunday will have the Junior Rodeo and the Dog Show.

Come join us Monday night for an evening of fashion and talents at the Fashion Revue and the Fine Arts Competition.

On Tuesday, come in the morning and you never know what you might learn while you watch the demonstration contest. Later, see what all we have done for the fair this year and to bid on items in the Wrangler 4-H Club’s Silent Auction.

On Wednesday, come and see the 4-H rocket launch in the morning and stick around for the open class goat show, the 4-H and FFA goat show, and the 4-H and FFA sheep show. You can see our projects and bid on silent auction items as well.

Thursday will hold the 4-H and open rabbit show and the 4-H and open poultry show. Stay a little while longer and you will get to watch the 4-H alpaca obstacle course, and when that is done, you won’t want to leave yet, because you will want to go watch the 4-H and FFA beef show. The projects will be open to the public and the Silent Auction will still be going.

And of course, you will want to be there on Friday. Everyone will be.

But make sure when you come down, that you wear your favorite pink shirt to support Breast Cancer Awareness. First, you will want to go see the swine show and then there will be different activities for all ages going on all day. There will be a water balloon fight, blindfolded stick horse barrel race and a United Blood Services blood drive, so make sure you go and donate. There will also be the ranch rodeo, chicken flying contest, corn shucking contest, balloon shaving, water balloon toss, money hunt and many more events. When you are not watching or participating in an activity, make sure and go watch the small animal round robin, the cake decorating contest, and the pet parade, as well as other things that will be going on all day.

Remember to see the projects and, if you are interested, bid on items in the silent auction. Make sure you get your tickets to the Bill Babnick and 44 Mag concert, and then go and enjoy the music and dancing. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Saturday, you will want to go to the Boy Scout Troop 535 Pancake Breakfast, then you will want to see the open class Rocket Launch. Of course, after that you will want to go see the large animal round robin and then the greased pig catch. And of course the Livestock Sale. After you are done there, make sure you go down to the Demolition Derby. The projects will still be open to see.

For a schedule of all the fun things that will be going on, visit www.montezumacountyfair.com.

While you are there, I am sure you will get hungry and you will not even have to leave. Just go to concessions and support the 4-H County Council and fill yourself up with good food at the same time.

There will be add-on tables at all of the livestock shows as well as the livestock sale. They will have envelopes that you can write your name on and the names of the kids that you would like to add money onto their sale. The money will go into the envelope.

We welcome new buyers at every fair. If you would be interested, please call the Colorado State University Extension office at 565-3123.

Highlights from the last County Council meeting: All of the clubs need to help set up and tear down for the concert; and everyone needs to bring their own shavings to the fair.
