When it comes to perfecting pizza, Sheri Schiess, co-owner, and son, Tyler Schiess, seem to know what it takes.

“We make our own dough, and we make our own sauces,” Sheri said. “The pizzas are all individually made. No two are alike.”

The new Pizza and Suds restaurant will open Friday in the location of the former Bear’s Den restaurant.

“Our big thing we are promoting is deck seating and dining on the river,” Sheri said.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, and will serve pizza, calzones, sub sandwiches and salads.

In addition, the restaurant will sell pizza by the slice for $2.25 and will give away punch cards, enabling customers to get a free slice after buying 10 slices.

Sheri said this spring and summer, the restaurant will be open seven days a week.

She hopes they will eventually be able to deliver pizza locally.

In the small kitchen Tuesday, staff at the restaurant worked to roll out dough and slide the pizzas into the stone oven.

Sheri said they will have daily specials.

Tyler said he felt Dolores needed a pizza place.

“This is something Dolores hasn’t had in a while,” he said.

Sheri agreed.

“This will be a relaxing place with a friendly atmosphere,” she said.

Diners can sit and watch their pizzas be made because the kitchen is open.
