On Wednesday and Thursday, June 8-9, in Parker, the best high school junior baseball players in Colorado displayed their talents in the first annual junior showcase baseball games put on by the Colorado Dugout Club, which is made up of baseball coaches a part of the Colorado High School Coaches Association.

The top 20 junior baseball players from their respective region were selected to their team.

Montezuma-Cortez 2011 junior second baseman Devin Fox played for the Western Slope team that was coached by Fruita Monument’s Ray McLennan and Landon Wareham of Montrose. The Western Slope team was made up of juniors from the different leagues across the Western Slope. The Western Slope team beat the Metro and Tri-Peaks League’s team 16-1. Fox hit two singles and forced two walks in the game. Against the team made up of the Patriot, Intermountain, Centennial and Frontier Leagues, the Western Slope lost 8-6. Fox went 1-for-2 with a walk.

“Devin played well,” McLennan said about senior-to-be Fox. “He played good defense both days. He made a couple of nice plays at second base and he’s certainly a good player. He represented himself very well in that setting.”
